Job Description

**This is a Monday through Friday position from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. shift. **

 

Position Summary:

Based in Browntown, WI and reporting to the HR Director, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for all HR duties related to the management, implementation, communication and administration of HR related programs such as labor relations, employee engagement, staffing, time and attendance, benefits, performance management, training, policy application and workers compensation.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide coaching and advice to management on effective ways to administer HR programs and manage and resolve complex employee issues.

  • Ensure that the plant has the necessary talent and capabilities to successfully meet production requirements and all associated needs.

  • Provides day to day business HR partnership and consultation for all employees including plant leadership.

  • Owns the employee engagement aspect of the plant by managing an employee engagement strategy and staying abreast of the pulse of the workplace; includes high visibility at the plant floor.

 

Key Activities:

  • Keeps abreast with the corporate and statutory employee benefit programs and ensures accurate application of programs.

  • Develops relationships with HR team to ensure compliance of FMLA, LOA and programs as well as consistent application of disciplinary actions and development of plans to reduce absenteeism.

  • Conducts local wage & benefit surveys to assess competitiveness; develops annual wage and benefit recommendations.

  • Partners with Workers’ Compensation claims adjusters, internal and external legal resources, and Risk Management to effectively manage claims.

  • Champions the performance management process, and ensures training, accountability and alignment of goals and the calibration of ratings.

  • Manages Diversity & Inclusion efforts at the site.

  • Ensures consistent application of policies and practices; assesses need/opportunity for work rule and policy changes; offers guidance, direction, and training to management on administration of employee handbook and policy and disciplinary matters.

  • Verify adherence to Company HR policies and to the terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours, and working conditions.

  • May represent management in meetings and processes where union stewards are also involved. May serve as a resource to labor negotiators by providing information on provisions of current contract and significance of proposed changes.

  • Provide input to the team regarding localized needs and the effectiveness of HR programs & services.

  • Maintains all compliance requirements. Analyze and correct errors and ensure proper quality controls are in place to avoid future errors.

  • Executes compliance programs, internal audits, external audits, and government audits.

  • Participate in and/or support projects and ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities within established constraints.

  • Manages the salary administration and job evaluation processes, including reward and recognition programs.

  • Conduct / coordinate new employee orientation for all new employees.

  • Other generalist projects and tasks in HR, and support to other areas of HR.

  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

 

Skills Required:

  • Demonstrated experience with labor law, employment sourcing, communications, human relations, benefits and compensation administration.

  • Effective and deliberate communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).

  • Experience with Ceridian, Dayforce, Microsoft D365 or other HRIS.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong consulting relationships and influence business leaders through coaching and partnerships.

  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations affecting the workplace.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with and influence the plant leadership team.

  • Strong floor presence with the ability to understand the pulse of employee morale.

Necessary Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related degree required.

  • PHR or SPHR preferred.

  • At least 8 years of HR functional experience is required (e.g., employee and labor relations, staffing, compensation, benefits, learning, employee data); preferably for a large consumer products company as a generalist.  (union environment a plus)

  • Experience working at a manufacturing site is desirable

  • Demonstrated experience with labor law, employment sourcing, communications, human relations, benefits and compensation administration.

  • Effective and deliberate communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).

  • Experience with Ceridian, Dayforce, Microsoft D365 or other HRIS.
