Job Description

**This is a Monday thru Friday position from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. shift. **


Position Summary:

Responsible for promoting the growth, quality, and operational efficiency of V&V Supremo Foods (Mill Creek, Arena WI manufacturing operation) and Chula Vista Cheese Co, and the Accounting/Finance processes and procedures.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs analysis of variances against known standards and assists in establishing standards.

  • Identifies, analyzes, and recommends improvements for the enhancement of cost-based efficiencies in balance with Operational needs and capabilities including Transportation and Warehouse.

  • Responsible for inventory, cycle counts and yields.

  • Develops inter-departmental operational efficiency standards and ad hoc reports utilizing activity-based cost accounting generally accepted practices.

  • Responsible for data collection, accuracy, analytical assessments and leading the subsequent operational recommendation sessions.


Key Activities:

  • Support plant management in all financial reporting and analysis needs.

  • Month-end Close - Responsible for monthly accounting close and reporting cycle, including balance sheet account reconciliations, key statistical entries, manufacturing variances and other financial reporting requirements.

  • General Accounting – Ensure compliance with policies and procedures in accordance with U.S. GAAP with respect to period recognition of costs, capital vs. expense, accruals, etc. Implement Standard Operating Procedures and make recommendations to improve them for potential adoption across all plants. Support internal and external audit requirements according to the PBC listing.

  • Cost Accounting - Responsible for maintaining standard costs, bill of material cost rolls, periodic full standard cost roll updates, PPV analysis, monthly journal entries, and labor & overhead analysis and reporting. Participate in plant problem solving and Continuous Improvement (CI) teams as finance subject matter expert by providing manufacturing support and analysis in such areas as process performance, line efficiency, OEE, scrap reduction, E&O reduction and control, inventory carrying cost, capital spending, inventory management, customer service objectives, production costing, and cost reduction.

  • Data Integrity – Ensure that plant activity for production, shipments, receipts, internal transfers, plant expenses, and inventory adjustments are recorded timely and accurately so that information in the systems can be relied upon for accounting, financial reporting, supply chain execution, and analysis.

  • Internal Controls – Monitor and implement plant internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks.

  • Planning & Forecasting - Coordinate the plant annual planning with preparation of the plant budget, monthly forecasts, and ongoing reporting and analysis of actual costs vs, budget, key drivers of variances, and identifying opportunities for cost management. This includes certain weekly spend and KPI reporting.

  • Annual Budgeting-Guide and support the plant operations and supply chain teams through the annual budget cycle and re-forecasts.

  • Spends time at manufacturing locations and with operations personnel verifying cost information and data.

  • Ability to lead and control meetings.

  • Ability to write and update policy & procedures.

  • Responsible for complying with all Safe Quality Food (SQF) polices/procedures and requirements for position.

  • Follow GMP’s, sanitation procedures, and quality procedures as set forth by QA and/or supervisors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Necessary Experience:

  • B.S or B.A. in Accounting.

  • CMA is a plus.

  • Activity Based Cost Accounting experience a plus.

  • Three to four years of cost accounting experience in a food and/or consumer goods manufacturing environment.

  • Activity based costing system implementation experience a plus.

  • ERP system implementation a plus.

  • Experience with Microsoft D365 and Great Plains will be a plus.

  • Experience with ASC will be a plus.

  • Excellent customer relationship skills.

  • Demonstration of strong analytical and innovation skills.
