Job Description

Salaried position, $80k-$90k annually + Sign on Bonus+ Annual Bonus Structure.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and employee-focused Payroll & Benefits HR Generalist to support our union and non-union workforce. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate payroll processing, effective benefits administration, and compliance with collective bargaining agreements and applicable laws. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and a service-minded approach.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Administration

    • Process accurate and timely payroll for hourly and salaried employees in both union and non-union populations.

    • Apply wage rates, shift differentials, overtime, premiums, and other pay practices in accordance with collective bargaining agreements and company policies.

    • Review payroll reports, resolve discrepancies, and ensure data accuracy.

    • Administer garnishments, deductions, and year-end payroll activities (W-2s).

    • Partner with Finance to support payroll reconciliations and audits.

  • Benefits Administration

    • Administer employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and leave programs.

    • Manage new hire enrollments, life events, open enrollment, and vendor file feeds.

    • Serve as a primary contact for employee benefit questions and issue resolution.

    • Coordinate with benefits vendors and brokers to ensure accurate plan administration.

    • Support compliance activities including COBRA, ACA reporting, and required plan notices.

 

Key Activities:

  • HR Generalist Support

    • Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS and payroll systems.

    • Support onboarding and offboarding for union and non-union employees.

    • Assist with leave administration (FMLA, state leave programs, workers’ compensation coordination).

    • Respond to employee inquiries with professionalism, consistency, and confidentiality.

    • Support HR audits and special projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3+ years of payroll and benefits experience, preferably supporting a union workforce.

  • Working knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and benefits compliance.

  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems- ADP workforce preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.

  • Occasional Travel to other locations required

  • Manufacturing or distribution environment experience.

  • Multi-state payroll experience.

  • Experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements.

  • CPP, PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar certification.

  • Bilingual in both English & Spanish.
