Job Description

**This is a Monday through Friday position from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. shift. **


Position Summary:

Manages the staffing process for assigned positions and/or departments, in order to fill job openings in a timely manner with high performing employees.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Confers with management to define organizational needs and position requirements; writes the job specification and develops the sourcing strategy. 

  • Utilizes a broad range of sourcing techniques to identify potential candidates, then contacts, recruits, screens, and interviews candidates, to recommend short-list candidates to the hiring managers. 

  • Manages the candidates and the interviewers throughout the recruiting and interviewing process, seeking hiring decisions in the best interest of both parties.

  • Manages the closing and on-boarding process; prepares and delivers job offers, conducts / coordinates background and reference checks and handles new employee signup.

  • Resolves problems and develops improvement initiatives to continuously enhance V&V’s talent acquisition and retention. 


Key Activities:

  • Confers with management to develop and/or understand organization plans and personnel needs. Conducts interviews and writes job descriptions and recruiting specifications.

  • Develops recruiting and sourcing strategies for assigned open positions. May develop company recruiting programs to attract applicants and to fill specific job openings.

  • Develops and maintains network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates.

  • Writes and places job advertising in various media.

  • Coordinates internal job postings.

  • Coordinates participation in, sets up display, and works at job fairs.

  • Develops and maintains contacts with schools, alumni groups, and other public organizations to find and attract applicants.

  • Works with external recruiters and employment agencies to identify and recruit candidates.

  • Utilizes Internet online recruiting sources to identify and recruit candidates.

  • Initiates contact with possibly qualified candidates for job openings.

  • Reviews applications and interviews applicants to obtain work history, education, training, job skills, and salary requirements, and to provide information about the organization and position. Screens candidates by telephone and in person.

  • Conducts thorough assessment interviews to identify top candidates and recommends a slate of candidates to hiring manager.

  • Provides information on the company and on job opportunities to potential applicants.

  • Arranges travel and lodging for out-of-town candidates.

  • Performs reference and background checks on applicants.

  • Coordinates communications with applicants.

  • Conducts offer analysis and recommends terms. Prepares offer package and presents job offer to candidates.

  • Initiates scheduling of orientations, ordering of equipment, in preparation for start date of new hire.  Handles new hire paperwork and submits complete new hire package to payroll.

  • Represents V&V to the public in forums where talent may be sourced.

  • Performs other projects within HR as needed.


Skills Required:

  • Understands the V&V business proposition, strategic direction, and potential attractions for candidates. Effectively “recruits”; presents persuasive, honest and realistic propositions to candidates.

  • Bicultural understanding and awareness of Latino and American cultures.

  • Able to effectively conduct business in English and Spanish and represent V&V in a professional manner.

  • Hands-on and can-do attitude

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build very good working relationships with managers, coworkers, and customers.

  • Able to improve processes and increase efficiency

  • Knowledgeable of legal requirements affecting recruiting; ensures policies, procedures, and practices are in compliance. Involves legal counsel as appropriate.

  • Able to deal properly with sensitive and confidential information. 

  • Skilled interviewer and assessor; disciplined and thorough in approach.

  • Effective written communicator (writing job descriptions, offers, etc)

  • Well organized and systematic to assure proper follow-up, organization of activity and paperwork flow.

  • Skilled with MS Office, and with contact management / recruiting / HRIS software.

Necessary Experience:

  • Has worked at a professional level in industries and environments that provide relevant organizational and business understanding (e.g. manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, wholesale, consumer goods, food, retail, grocery). 

  • Five + years full service recruiting experience; preferably has worked both internally and externally as a recruiter.

  • Has recruited for a broad range of positions, functions, levels, industries. 

  • Some experience in Human Resources beyond recruiting

  • Has experience and track record as the lead recruiter / account manager; can demonstrate experience in working closely with hiring managers and in managing the overall recruiting process. Has moved from “get the fill” to “get the right people into the right position / company”.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred. PHR preferred
